Figure Drawing Blog Post

The first two weeks of school Tommy came as a guest instructor to teach us for a series of classes figure drawing. It was a fairly new experience for me as the only other time I had done subtractive figure drawing was with Tommy last year in Art 3. At the beginning we did gesture drawings and it took me some time to figure out how to do them effectively in a short period of time. As the weeks progressed we began to attempt longer drawing of the figure. My first couple attempts as this were slightly weak and unfinished as I spent too much time on the gesture itself. However, the last drawing really showed my progress with an almost finished drawing and a strong show of value compared to the previous attempts. This experience overall definitely improved my ability to draw figures and helped to better my technique with subtractive charcoal drawing.

(A few of my drawings to show progress below, with the last being my final drawing)
