The career I chose is display and exhibition planner. A display and exhibition planner is someone who designs and makes different intriguing physical displays for a variety of venues and events. Responsibilities for someone with this career includes conceptualizing a display, designing displays, collaborating with clients, managing budgets, managing/overseeing construction and installation, and making sure that the final product is safe and accessible. This career also requires at least a bachelor's degree in fields such as graphic design, architecture, interior design, and or museum studies. In addition to having the educational requirements to be a good display and exhibition planner a certain skill set is needed. This would include good time management, creativity, proficiency in design and drawing, and excellent communication skills as these would make the work and final product much more manageable and nice as a result. If you are looking to pursue this career some of the best majors/programs to help prepare you would be a major in design like interior design, graphic design, architecture, or exhibit design. All of these majors provide foundational skills in planning and aesthetics which is a key aspect of becoming a proficient display and exhibition planner. For specific schools with notable programs for this career I would suggest the School of Visual Arts, Maryland Institute College of Art, Rhode Island School of Design, and or Savannah College of Art and Design all of which are exceptional institutes to prepare for this career. While these are specifically well known to have people to graduate as display and exhibition planners, another great and closer option would be Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) or Christopher Newport University.
